The IGS-SLP seems to be active in matters in which existing IGS’s and utility companies are already active. Our perspective is however fundamentally different, that is to have a transversal view beyond township and province borders. We look for a common denominator in a global view of the area and we aim at thinking regional. What does this mean concretely for the affiliated municipalities cooperating with the IGS-SLP?

1. Multidisciplinary
The IGS-SLP has, through its public-private cooperation (PPC), set up a structure and an organisation ensuring a multidisciplinary professional approach with a whole lot of experience in complex projects and a perspective geared to the market. This way, all parties’ interests (municipality/member, IGS-SLP and the private partner in the consortium) are guaranteed to a maximum.

2. Global vision
The approach based on a global vision on a well-defined region (the Maritime Scheldt valley) makes us unique. We look beyond township and province borders and aim at maximizing the region’s interests.

3. Coherence
The coherence between several projects within one’s own municipality are invariably born in mind and, case need, we also look for synergy together with the neighbouring municipality/municipalities, in order to create a win-win situation in this respect too.

4. Look for potentials
What makes us unique furthermore is the opportunity we offer to our members to preliminarily and in consultation with the municipality look for and screen potentials within the municipality.

5. Pre-financing
With the private partner, it has been agreed that he will be responsible for the pre-financing of services provided. This avoids pressure on municipal budgets by a certain (local) project. The PPC’s financing will be taken into stock and it will return through the effectively realized projects.

6. Experience
Making use of the PPC makes knowledge and know-how available in municipalities. This provides the projects with a broader basis and they enjoy the experience to attract possible additional financing (subsidy channels on various levels).

7. Knowledge of the market
The market experience acquired through the PPS allows finding partners interested in participating so that the project’s total throughput time is shortened.
